Love Wins: A Supreme Court Ruling Conversation

Let's sit down for some coffee (or tea) and have a conversation, brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ.

In light of today's Supreme Court ruling, I would like to ask all believers to remember 1 Corinthians 6. Especially the part that says "all things are lawful...not all things are beneficial". Instead of being angry about the decisions of this very temporary world, lets focus on what God tells US to do. "Flee from sexual immorality," yes. But don't expect the world to comply. Thanks to a vision from John in Revelation, we know it won't until the end.  Remember that "He sets up kings, and puts them down." (Psalm 75:7) Living in an independent country, founded on the belief that a country's citizens should make its own decisions, we must endure the laws that the WORLD will set up. We ARE NOT the world - we just live here.

With that in mind, I call you to pray without ceasing, honor God with YOUR body, preach the gospel to every nation. "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will." (Romans 12:2)

I call you to cease the very public bashing of the government that God has set up for us. It pains me so much to see us resorting to worldly responses. He placed you here on purpose. You were born in the United States of America for a reason. Resist the urge to join the rising ranks of Christians who are bitter and angry about their country. Praise the Lord for his mighty power, and the work he will do through YOU despite the silly daily decisions of the masses. "Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse" (Romans 12:14)

Take this time today to remember that we are not of this world. We are God's. These decisions do not affect our work. Our work is to bring others to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Don't let today's Supreme Court Ruling distract you from your heavenly work!!

With Love in Christ,
Heather

I love your message here that encourages people to put their bitterness aside. I happen to think that the ruling is a huge step in the advancement of human rights and couldn't be happier. I am also a Christian. I have seen swords being swung from all direction, and it's so sad to see. Linking up next to you at Missional Women. :)

Thanks for checking out the blog! I am really very frustrated with all the anger Christians seem to have. Thanks for commenting! :)

Well said. I feel the same way with Christian responses to my government at times. Sure, they drive me nuts too sometimes but we should pray for them rather than invest all our energy in hate.
