Blackberry Mojito

Happy Independence Day Americans! Blackberry Mojito has, for some reason, made me nostalgic!
I am usually not a big fan of this holiday, per se, until it's time to explain it...again...to my oldest. Despite all the legislation in the last 100 years or so...for the most part this Country is still about freedom from tyranny. Our one vote may not seem to matter, but it does! It contributes to the majority - a majority that has been given the chance to be independent from one ruler who makes every decree of his/her own accord.

That being said...don't forget that we're only talking about earthly leaders here. God still reigns supreme!!

To help celebrate the fun and fireworks, and add some color to your beverage selection, try this Blackberry Mojito on for size!

Blackberry Mojito in a Jar

Ingredients:

2 cups fresh or frozen blackberries
1 1/2 cups milk
2 cups water
3/4 cup sugar or honey
1 bottle New Age white wine (or any sparkling white wine/champagne - no need to keep it virgin just because you're breastfeeding, either! Check out this post if you feel the need to pump after though. But if you really don't want it in there, simply substitute it with an extra bottle of Fresca)
1 bottle Fresca
1/2 cup lime juice

Directions:

Blend blackberries and milk together until smooth. Put into pitcher. Dissolve sugar(or honey) into the 2 cups of water by heating in microwave or on stove top for 1-2 minutes. Add to the pitcher of blackberry goodness. Add remaining liquids, stir, and refrigerate! Pour over ice for extra crisp freshness.

Don't forget your apron! ;)

How are you celebrating your independence this year? Enjoy and Happy 4th!
